Ingredients

  • 500 grams lean beef (round or sirloin)
  • 4 units garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0 olive oil spray
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 1 medium bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Directions

Step 1

Slice the lean beef into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick, and set aside.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine minced garlic, lime juice, cumin powder, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.

Step 3

Add the sliced beef to the marinade and ensure all pieces are thoroughly coated. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes if time permits.

Step 4

Slice the red onion and bell pepper into thin strips.

Step 5

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and lightly spray with olive oil.

Step 6

Add the marinated beef strips to the skillet in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through, then remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 7

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes until they are softened and slightly caramelized.

Step 8

Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables, stirring to combine.

Step 9

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add this mixture to the skillet and stir for another 2 minutes until the sauce has slightly thickened and evenly coats the beef and vegetables.

Step 10

Remove from heat, garnish with freshly chopped cilantro, and serve immediately.
