Ingredients

  • 200 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 150 milliliters Skim milk
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 medium Apple (peeled and diced)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 as needed Cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, whisk together the skim milk, honey, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 3

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring smoothly until a uniform batter forms.

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix the diced apple with cinnamon powder and lemon juice to prevent browning and to add flavor. Set aside.

Step 5

Preheat a non-stick skillet or a griddle over medium heat and lightly coat with cooking spray.

Step 6

For each beignet, pour about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet, making sure to leave enough space between each beignet.

Step 7

Quickly add a spoonful of the apple mixture onto each beignet and gently fold the surrounding batter over the apples to enclose them.

Step 8

Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until the beignets are golden brown and cooked through.

Step 9

Transfer the cooked beignets to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess moisture.

Step 10

Sprinkle the beignets with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.
