Ingredients

  • 8 pieces chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 spray olive oil spray

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly spray it with olive oil spray.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the low-sodium soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, tomato paste, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Whisk until smooth to create the BBQ sauce marinade.

Step 3

Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. Place them in a large zip-top bag or shallow dish.

Step 4

Pour the marinade over the chicken drumsticks. Seal the bag (or cover the dish), and ensure the drumsticks are well coated in the marinade. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 12 hours for extra flavor.

Step 5

Place the marinated drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced and not touching.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and baste the drumsticks with any remaining marinade.

Step 7

Return the drumsticks to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the drumsticks are browned and slightly charred.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
