Ingredients

  • 240 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 100 grams granulated sugar
  • 120 milliliters unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 120 milliliters low-fat milk
  • 1 medium granny smith apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with a little canola oil or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

In another bowl, beat together the granulated sugar, applesauce, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 4

Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the low-fat milk, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 5

Fold in the diced apple gently until well incorporated into the batter.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Step 8

Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
