Ingredients

  • 200 grams All-purpose flour
  • 80 grams Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons Anise seeds
  • 2 large Egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Low-fat milk
  • 1 pinch Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, anise seeds, and salt.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until they are lightly frothy. Add the vanilla extract and milk to the egg whites and mix until combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently to form a dough. The dough should come together but not feel overly sticky. If it is too dry, add an extra teaspoon of milk at a time until you reach the right consistency.

Step 5

On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thickness.

Step 6

Use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes and carefully transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden.

Step 8

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Serve the cookies as a light and flavorful snack or store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
