Ingredients

  • 2 cups Almond flour
  • 1 cup Coconut flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Xanthan gum
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 3 tablespoons Unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 pound Ground pork
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce (or coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce (or low-carb substitute)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Powdered erythritol
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Minced ginger
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Avocado oil (or any neutral oil)
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, and xanthan gum. Mix well.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and almond milk until smooth. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and knead until a dough forms. Set aside.

Step 3

To prepare the filling, heat avocado oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant.

Step 4

Add ground pork to the skillet and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Step 5

Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, powdered erythritol, and water. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the finely chopped green onions. Set the filling aside to cool slightly.

Step 7

Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Flatten each piece of dough into a circle, about 4 inches in diameter.

Step 8

Place 1-2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Carefully fold the edges up, pinching to seal the bun at the top.

Step 9

Cut out small squares of parchment paper and place each bun on one to prevent sticking during steaming.

Step 10

Set up a steamer and bring water to a boil. Place the buns, parchment paper side down, into the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching.

Step 11

Cover and steam the buns over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, until the dough is cooked through and firm to the touch.

Step 12

Remove the buns from the steamer and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your low-carb steamed pork buns warm!
