Ingredients

  • 10 pieces Dried red chilies
  • 6 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Tamarind paste
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 cups Water
  • 0.5 teaspoons Stevia or erythritol (optional, for slight sweetness)

Directions

Step 1

Start by soaking the dried red chilies in warm water for 10 minutes to soften them. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

Peel the garlic cloves and keep them ready.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a small skillet on medium heat. Once hot, add the cumin seeds and let them crackle for 30 seconds.

Step 4

Add the soaked red chilies and peeled garlic cloves to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the garlic turns golden and aromatic.

Step 5

Transfer the sautéed chilies, garlic, and cumin seeds to a blender. Add the tamarind paste, salt, and 0.25 cups of water.

Step 6

Blend until you achieve a smooth, thick consistency. If needed, add another tablespoon of water to adjust the texture.

Step 7

Taste the chutney and, if desired, add stevia or erythritol for a slight sweetness to balance the spice and tang.

Step 8

Transfer the chutney to a clean, airtight container and let it cool. Store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
