Ingredients

  • 250 grams medium-sized shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 pieces large cabbage leaves
  • 1 piece egg white
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 250 ml water

Directions

Step 1

Chop the shrimp into small pieces and place in a bowl.

Step 2

Add sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper to the shrimp. Mix well until fully combined.

Step 3

Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add cabbage leaves and blanch for 2 minutes until slightly softened. Remove and let them cool.

Step 4

Lay a blanched cabbage leaf flat and place about a tablespoon of the shrimp mixture at the center.

Step 5

Brush the edges of the cabbage leaf with egg white to help seal. Fold the edges over the filling to enclose and form a wonton shape. Press gently to seal.

Step 6

Repeat the process with the remaining cabbage leaves and shrimp mixture.

Step 7

In a steamer, bring water to a boil. Arrange the wontons in a single layer in the steamer basket. Cover and steam for 8-10 minutes until the shrimp is fully cooked and the wontons are warmed through.

Step 8

Serve hot with additional soy sauce or sweet chili sauce for dipping, if desired.
