Ingredients

  • 250 grams Shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 10 large Green cabbage leaves
  • 100 grams Cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Submerge the cabbage leaves, one at a time, for about 1 minute each to soften them. Remove, drain, and set aside to cool.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, cream cheese, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onions, black pepper, salt, and red chili flakes (if using). Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

Step 3

Lay a cabbage leaf on a clean surface and place about 1 tablespoon of the shrimp mixture in the center. Fold the sides and then the bottom over the filling, rolling up to enclose it completely. Repeat this process with the remaining leaves and filling.

Step 4

Place a steamer basket over a pot of simmering water. Line the basket with a few cabbage scraps or parchment paper to prevent sticking. Arrange the wontons in the steamer basket, leaving a little space between them.

Step 5

Cover and steam the wontons for about 8-10 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through and the wontons are heated thoroughly.

Step 6

Carefully remove the wontons from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy these low-carb shrimp wontons with a dipping sauce of your choice.
