Ingredients

  • 500 grams large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and black pepper, and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they start to turn pink. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice, and bring to a simmer. Let it reduce slightly for about 2 minutes.

Step 5

Lower the heat and slowly stir in the heavy cream, followed by the Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens.

Step 6

Season the sauce with additional salt to taste, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes for a hint of spice.

Step 7

Add the shrimp back into the sauce and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are cooked through and well-coated in the sauce.

Step 8

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Step 9

Serve hot, either on its own or over a bed of zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice for a low-carb meal.
