Ingredients

  • 5 pounds Bone-in ham
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Sugar-free maple syrup
  • 1 cup Brown sugar substitute
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 2 sprigs Fresh rosemary
  • 15 units Whole cloves
  • 1 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

Step 2

Remove any packaging and the plastic disk from the ham. If the ham has a rind, carefully trim it away, leaving a thin layer of fat.

Step 3

Score the surface of the ham with a sharp knife, creating a diamond pattern. Insert whole cloves into the intersections of the diamond cuts.

Step 4

In a medium saucepan, combine the Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, sugar-free maple syrup, brown sugar substitute, ground cloves, ground nutmeg, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer, then reduce the heat and let it thicken slightly, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 5

Place the ham in a large roasting pan and pour the water into the bottom of the pan.

Step 6

Brush half of the glaze over the ham, ensuring it's evenly coated. Reserve the remaining glaze for later.

Step 7

Place the fresh rosemary sprigs in the roasting pan with the ham.

Step 8

Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.

Step 9

Bake for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham registers 140°F (60°C).

Step 10

Every 30 minutes, baste the ham with the juices from the roasting pan and reapply the reserved glaze.

Step 11

For the final 15 minutes of baking, remove the foil to allow the glaze to caramelize and the ham to turn a beautiful golden-brown.

Step 12

Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Step 13

Serve the ham slices with any remaining glaze from the pan.
