Ingredients

  • 8 slices Almond flour bread
  • 4 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices Sliced ham
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.125 teaspoon Nutmeg

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Stir occasionally until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes. Set the sauce aside.

Step 3

Butter one side of each almond flour bread slice.

Step 4

Spread 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard on the unbuttered side of 4 bread slices.

Step 5

On top of the mustard-covered slices, place 2 slices of ham and then sprinkle 1/4 cup of Gruyère cheese.

Step 6

Top each sandwich with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.

Step 7

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has started to melt.

Step 8

Transfer the sandwiches to the prepared baking sheet.

Step 9

Spoon the cream sauce over the top of each sandwich, distributing it evenly.

Step 10

Sprinkle the remaining Gruyère cheese over the top of the sandwiches.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
