Ingredients

  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups avocado oil

Directions

Step 1

Peel the onion and slice it into very thin rings; approximately 1/8 inch thick. Separate the rings and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, mix together almond flour, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3

In another bowl, beat the eggs until blended.

Step 4

Heat the avocado oil in a large saucepan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).

Step 5

Dip a handful of onion rings into the egg mixture, then transfer them to the almond flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated. Shake off the excess.

Step 6

Carefully place the coated onion strings into the hot oil. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the fried onion strings using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 8

Repeat the process with the remaining onion rings, making sure not to overcrowd the frying pan.

Step 9

Serve immediately as a crispy snack or a crunchy topping for dishes.
