Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese slices
  • 8 slices keto-friendly bread
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

Season the ground beef with salt and black pepper, mixing thoroughly to combine.

Step 2

Form the seasoned beef into four oval-shaped patties, designed to match the shape of your bread slices.

Step 3

In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add the sliced onions.

Step 4

Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, for about 10-12 minutes or until they are soft and golden brown. Remove onions from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter, and place the patties in the skillet.

Step 6

Cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 7

Assemble the patty melts by spreading 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of keto bread.

Step 8

On the non-mayonnaise side of each of four slices, layer a cooked beef patty, some caramelized onions, and a slice of Swiss cheese.

Step 9

Top each with the remaining bread slices, mayonnaise side out.

Step 10

In a clean skillet over medium heat, cook each sandwich until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted, about 3 minutes per side.

Step 11

Serve immediately, enjoying the crispy, gooey, low-carb delight.
