Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 pieces cheddar cheese slices
  • 8 pieces large Romaine lettuce leaves
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 0.5 medium red onion, sliced
  • 0.25 cup pickles, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Cook the burger patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and top each with a slice of cheddar cheese. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers reach your desired level of doneness.

Step 5

Remove the burgers from heat and let them rest for a few minutes.

Step 6

To assemble each burger, lay two Romaine lettuce leaves slightly overlapping on a plate.

Step 7

Place the cooked burger patty on top of the lettuce leaves.

Step 8

Add a slice of tomato, a few rings of red onion, and a few pickle slices on top of the burger.

Step 9

Drizzle with mustard and mayonnaise, then top with another two lettuce leaves to wrap.

Step 10

Serve immediately and enjoy your low-carb classic burger!
