Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Pork tenderloin
  • 0.25 cup Soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup Sugar-free maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Hoison sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Red food coloring (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

Trim any excess fat from the pork tenderloin and cut it lengthwise into three equal strips.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar-free maple syrup, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, red food coloring (if using), salt, and ground black pepper.

Step 3

Add the pork strips to the marinade, ensuring the meat is well-coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor.

Step 4

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the marinated pork strips on the wire rack.

Step 5

Roast the pork in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, pour the remaining marinade into a saucepan and add 2 tablespoons of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 6

After 20 minutes of roasting, brush the pork with the thickened marinade. Roast for another 10 minutes, then brush again with the marinade.

Step 7

Continue to roast for another 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the pork reaches 145°F (63°C) and the edges are caramelized.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let the pork rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly.

Step 9

Serve the Low Carb Char Siu warm, with a side of low-carb vegetables or cauliflower rice.
