Ingredients

  • 6 pieces bratwurst sausages
  • 12 fl oz low-carb beer
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add sliced onion to the skillet, and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the onions and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 4

Remove the onion and garlic mixture from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the bratwurst sausages.

Step 6

Brown the brats on all sides, approximately 3-4 minutes per side.

Step 7

Once the bratwursts are browned, return the onion and garlic mixture to the skillet.

Step 8

Pour the low-carb beer over the bratwursts and onions.

Step 9

Season with salt and black pepper, then bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 10

Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Allow the bratwursts to simmer in the beer for 15-20 minutes.

Step 11

Uncover the skillet and raise the heat to medium-high to reduce the beer sauce slightly for about 2-3 minutes.

Step 12

Garnish the bratwursts with fresh parsley before serving.

Step 13

Serve the beer brats with your choice of low-carb sides such as sautéed vegetables or a salad.
