Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.5 cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 medium Apples (peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Milk (for glaze)
  • 0.5 teaspoons Vanilla extract (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Step 2

In a separate medium bowl, beat the eggs, then mix in the milk and vanilla extract until combined.

Step 3

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter will be slightly lumpy.

Step 4

Fold the diced apples into the batter, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.

Step 5

In a deep skillet or heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat to a temperature of 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain accurate frying temperature.

Step 6

Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry 4-5 fritters at a time to avoid overcrowding the pot.

Step 7

Cook the fritters for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 8

Repeat until all the batter is used.

Step 9

To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 0.5 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth and pourable, adding more milk if needed.

Step 10

Drizzle the glaze over the warm apple fritters or dip the fritters into the glaze for a thicker coating.

Step 11

Serve warm and enjoy!
