Ingredients

  • 500 grams Potatoes (russet or starchy variety)
  • 200 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 50 grams Butter (melted)
  • 6 pieces Plums (small, ripe but firm)
  • 6 teaspoons Sugar (for filling)
  • 100 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 50 grams Butter (for frying breadcrumbs)

Directions

Step 1

Peel and boil the potatoes in salted water until soft, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.

Step 2

Mash the potatoes until smooth and let them cool completely to room temperature.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms. If the dough is sticky, gradually add a little more flour, but avoid overworking the dough.

Step 4

Wash and dry the plums. If needed, carefully remove the pits while keeping the plums intact. Place a teaspoon of sugar into the center of each plum.

Step 5

Divide the dough into 6 equal portions. Flatten each portion into a disc and wrap it around a sugar-filled plum, ensuring it is fully covered and sealed. Roll gently in your hands to form a smooth dumpling.

Step 6

Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil. Carefully add the dumplings and cook for 8-10 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain.

Step 7

In a large skillet, melt the butter for the breadcrumbs over medium heat. Add the breadcrumbs and stir until golden and toasted, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 8

In a small bowl, mix the sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping. Set aside.

Step 9

Gently toss the cooked dumplings in the toasted breadcrumbs until fully coated.

Step 10

Serve the dumplings warm, sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Optionally, top with a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of melted butter for extra indulgence.
