Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.75 cups Apple cider
  • 0.25 cups Whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 medium Fresh apple (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with non-stick spray or butter.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, combine the apple cider, milk, melted butter, egg, grated apple, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Step 4

Slowly add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.

Step 5

Pour the batter into a piping bag or zip-top plastic bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pans, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.

Step 7

Remove the donuts from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 8

In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping.

Step 9

Once the donuts are cool, lightly dust them with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Alternatively, you can dip them in the mixture for a thicker coating.

Step 10

Serve the apple donuts fresh or store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
