Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Country-style pork ribs
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1.5 cups Barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Chicken broth

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and brown sugar to create a dry rub.

Step 3

Pat the country-style ribs dry with a paper towel, then rub them evenly with the dry rub. Make sure to coat all sides thoroughly.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sear the ribs on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the ribs and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low and deglaze the pan with the apple cider vinegar, scraping up any browned bits with a wooden spoon.

Step 6

Add the chicken broth and 1 cup of the barbecue sauce to the skillet. Stir well to combine into a flavorful braising liquid.

Step 7

Return the ribs to the skillet, arranging them in a single layer. Spoon some of the sauce over the ribs to coat them.

Step 8

Cover the skillet or Dutch oven with a lid or foil, and transfer it to the preheated oven.

Step 9

Bake the ribs for 3 to 3.5 hours, or until they are tender and easily pull apart with a fork.

Step 10

Remove the skillet from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).

Step 11

Brush the ribs generously with the remaining 0.5 cup of barbecue sauce, then return them to the oven uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes to caramelize the sauce.

Step 12

Remove the skillet from the oven and let the ribs rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or cornbread.
