Ingredients

  • 1 cup Milk
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons White sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 3.5 cups Bread flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast

Directions

Step 1

Add the milk, water, and unsalted butter to a small saucepan. Heat gently over low heat until the butter melts and the mixture is warm (about 110°F/43°C). Do not boil.

Step 2

Pour the warmed liquid mixture into the bread machine pan.

Step 3

Add the white sugar and salt to the pan. Stir gently to combine.

Step 4

Measure and carefully add the bread flour on top of the liquid mixture. Make sure the liquid is completely covered with the flour.

Step 5

Create a small well in the center of the flour but do not let it reach the liquid layer. Add the active dry yeast into the well.

Step 6

Insert the pan into the bread machine and select the 'Dough' cycle. Start the machine.

Step 7

Once the dough cycle is complete (usually 90 minutes), remove the dough from the machine and place it on a floured surface.

Step 8

Gently knead the dough by hand a few times to remove any air bubbles and shape it into a loaf or your desired shape.

Step 9

Lightly grease a bread loaf pan or baking sheet. Place the shaped dough onto or into the pan and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Allow it to rise for 30–45 minutes in a warm spot, or until doubled in size.

Step 10

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 11

Bake the bread for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and allow the loaf to cool on a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!
