Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup Whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons Additional butter (melted, for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

Cut the cold unsalted butter into small cubes. Add the butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Slowly pour the milk into the dry ingredients, stirring gently with a fork or spatula. Mix just until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 5

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it 5-6 times until it holds together. Pat the dough out into a rectangle about 1/2-inch thick.

Step 6

Using a round biscuit cutter (about 2.5 inches in diameter), cut out as many biscuits as possible. Re-roll scraps of dough to cut out additional biscuits.

Step 7

Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, making sure they're close together but not touching. This helps them rise higher while baking.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

Step 9

Remove the biscuits from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter for extra flavor and shine. Serve warm.
