Ingredients

  • 6 Fresh lemons
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 6 cups Water
  • 10 Fresh mint leaves
  • 6 Fresh strawberries
  • 2 cups Ice cubes
  • 3 Lemon slices
  • 3 Strawberry slices

Directions

Step 1

Roll each lemon on the countertop with the palm of your hand to soften them and release the juices.

Step 2

Cut the lemons in half and squeeze the juice into a measuring cup until you have about 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Remove any seeds.

Step 3

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. This creates a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.

Step 4

In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and 4 cups of cold water. Stir well.

Step 5

Hull and slice the fresh strawberries. Using a blender or immersion blender, puree the strawberries until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds, if desired.

Add the strawberry puree to the lemonade mixture and stir to combine. Adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or water to taste.

Gently crush the fresh mint leaves using a muddler or the back of a spoon to release their aroma. Add the mint leaves to the pitcher.
