  • 6 leaves Curry leaves (optional)
  • 1 medium Green chili (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro (chopped)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps the rice cook evenly.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked and the water is absorbed.

Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Then fluff the rice gently with a fork.
