Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Capers (drained and rinsed)
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper (freshly ground)

Directions

Step 1

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium-sized skillet over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.

Step 3

Sprinkle the flour over the garlic and butter mixture. Stir continuously for about 1 minute to create a roux.

Step 4

Slowly pour in the chicken broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until the mixture begins to thicken, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the fresh lemon juice, capers, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 6

Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet and stir until fully melted and the sauce is glossy.

Step 7

Remove the sauce from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.

Step 8

Serve warm over your favorite cooked chicken or fish, such as grilled chicken breasts or pan-seared salmon.
