Ingredients

  • 6 whole Lemons
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 6 cups Water
  • 2 cups Ice cubes
  • 8 leaves Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Roll the lemons on your countertop using the palm of your hand to help release the juices inside.

Step 2

Cut each lemon in half and juice them using a manual or electric citrus juicer until you've extracted approximately 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain the juice through a fine-mesh sieve to remove pulp and seeds, if desired.

Step 3

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is fully dissolved. This creates a simple syrup.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the simple syrup cool for a few minutes.

In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the cooled simple syrup, and the remaining 5 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
