Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp parsley, freshly chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until the ingredients are just combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the meatloaf dense.

Step 3

Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan. Press it down gently and shape it into an even loaf.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to make the glaze.

Step 5

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf using a spoon or spatula.

Step 6

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) when measured with a meat thermometer.

Step 7

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, making the meatloaf moist and flavorful.

Step 8

Slice and serve warm. Pair it with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a fresh garden salad for a complete meal. Enjoy!
