Ingredients

  • 6 medium Roma tomatoes
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 0.5 cup Cilantro
  • 1 medium Jalapeño pepper
  • 1 large Garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 0.25 teaspoon Sugar (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Wash all produce thoroughly to remove any dirt or residue.

Step 2

Dice the Roma tomatoes into small, even pieces and place them into a medium-sized mixing bowl.

Step 3

Finely dice the red onion and add it to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Step 4

Remove the stems from the cilantro and chop the leaves finely. Add the chopped cilantro to the bowl.

Step 5

Slice the jalapeño pepper lengthwise and remove the seeds and membrane if you prefer a milder salsa. Dice the jalapeño finely and add it to the mix.

Step 6

Mince the garlic clove finely and add it to the bowl.

Step 7

Squeeze the juice of one lime (about 2 tablespoons) over the salsa mixture. Be sure to catch or strain any seeds.

Step 8

Add the salt, ground cumin, and sugar (if using) to the mixture.

Step 9

Gently stir all the ingredients together, ensuring they are evenly mixed. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 10

Serve immediately for a fresher flavor, or refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together before serving.
