Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Ground pork
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1.5 cups Cooked white rice
  • 4 cups Green cabbage, chopped
  • 28 ounces Crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounces Tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1.5 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.

Step 2

Add the ground beef and ground pork to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant and softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Add the cooked rice, salt, pepper, and paprika to the skillet with the meat mixture. Stir to combine evenly.

Step 5

In a large baking dish or Dutch oven, spread half of the chopped cabbage evenly across the bottom.

Step 6

Top the cabbage with the meat and rice mixture, spreading it into an even layer.

Step 7

Add the remaining cabbage in an even layer over the meat and rice mixture.

Step 8

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.

Step 9

Pour the tomato mixture evenly over the cabbage and meat layers in the baking dish.

Step 10

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil or a lid and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 45-50 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and the flavors are melded together.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with an optional dollop of sour cream or a side of crusty bread.
