Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Ground pork
  • 1 medium head Cabbage
  • 1 cup White rice
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 2 cups Tomato sauce
  • 1 14.5-ounce can Canned diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup Chicken or beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Rinse the rice under cold water and cook according to package instructions. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

While the rice cooks, chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces and dice the onion. Mince the garlic cloves.

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and pork, seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper, and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess grease, if necessary, and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, heat the remaining olive oil. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic and paprika, and cook for another 1 minute.

Step 6

Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook until just starting to wilt, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat, cooked rice, and cabbage mixture. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, broth, salt, black pepper, and parsley until well combined.

Step 8

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Step 9

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Step 10

After 40 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to allow the top to slightly brown.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with extra parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
