Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten egg, 1/4 cup of ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and optional parsley. Mix together using clean hands or a wooden spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing to prevent a dense meatloaf.

Step 3

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down gently to shape it evenly.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup of ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to make the glaze.

Step 5

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 6

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 7

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Step 8

Slice into thick pieces and serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes and green beans. Enjoy!
