Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 cup ketchup (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 3

Use clean hands or a spoon to gently mix the ingredients until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.

Step 4

Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Alternatively, press the mixture evenly into a loaf pan.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard for the topping. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 6

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) when tested with a meat thermometer.

Step 7

Allow the meatloaf to rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy with mashed potatoes or a side salad!
