Ingredients

  • 500 grams Lamb shoulder (cubed)
  • 200 grams Plain yogurt
  • 4 units Garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro (chopped, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add the plain yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, ground cumin, coriander, smoked paprika, turmeric powder, red chili powder, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.

Step 2

Whisk everything together until well combined to form a smooth and aromatic marinade.

Step 3

Add the lamb cubes to the bowl and toss to ensure all the pieces are evenly coated with the marinade.

Step 4

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for deeper flavor.

Step 5

Before cooking, remove the marinated lamb from the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature for about 20-30 minutes.

Step 6

Preheat your grill, grill pan, or oven (if roasting) to medium-high heat.

Step 7

If using skewers, thread the lamb cubes onto them, leaving small gaps between each piece. If not, simply place the lamb cubes directly onto the cooking surface.

Step 8

Grill or roast the lamb for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked through and the edges are lightly charred.

Step 9

Once cooked, remove from heat and let the lamb rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and serve warm with rice, flatbread, or a side of your choice.
