Ingredients

  • 6 large Apples (firm, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 5 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 4 whole Large eggs

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan to prevent sticking.

Step 2

Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3

Toss the apple slices with 5 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon until evenly coated. Set aside.

Step 4

In a separate large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 5

Using another mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar with the vegetable oil. Mix thoroughly until smooth.

Step 6

Add the orange juice, vanilla extract, and eggs to the sugar-oil mixture. Beat until well blended.

Step 7

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth batter forms.

Step 8

Pour 1/3 of the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Layer 1/3 of the cinnamon-coated apple slices on top of the batter.

Step 9

Repeat the layering process two more times, alternating batter and apple slices, finishing with a layer of apples on top.

Step 10

Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 90 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step 11

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes, then carefully remove it from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 12

Slice and serve at room temperature. This cake is perfect on its own or paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
