Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground pork
  • 1 medium, grated Carrot
  • 2 cups, finely shredded Cabbage
  • 2 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 1 small, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 25 pieces Lumpia wrappers
  • 3 cups, for frying Vegetable oil
  • 1 large, beaten (for sealing wrappers) Egg

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, grated carrot, shredded cabbage, minced garlic, chopped onion, soy sauce, salt, and ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Step 2

Separate the lumpia wrappers and lay one wrapper flat on a clean surface. Keep the others covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.

Step 3

Place about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the filling mixture onto the lower third of the wrapper. Shape the filling into a thin log, leaving space around the edges.

Step 4

Fold the bottom edge of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides. Roll the wrapper tightly to form a cylinder. Seal the edge by brushing it lightly with the beaten egg. Repeat this process for the remaining wrappers and filling.

In a deep frying pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). To test, drop a small piece of wrapper into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.

Carefully place 4-5 lumpia into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
