Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, white granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt.
Cut the butter into small cubes and rub it into the flour mixture using your fingertips until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and milk.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture and knead lightly to form a smooth dough. Be careful not to overwork the dough.
