  • 1 L Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 200 g Jam or custard (for filling)
  • 50 g Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, warm the milk until it's lukewarm (about 38–40°C). Sprinkle the yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar over the milk. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until frothy.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

Using a wooden spoon or stand mixer with a dough hook, mix the ingredients until a sticky dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes (or 5 minutes in a stand mixer) until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1–1.5 hours, or until it doubles in size.
