Ingredients

  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 100 grams Ground crab meat (optional for authentic flair)
  • 50 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Onion powder
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 4 pieces Tomato slices
  • 4 pieces Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 pieces Burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 8 slices Pickles
  • 4 teaspoons Ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons Mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, optional ground crab meat, breadcrumbs, egg, mustard, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix everything together gently with your hands or a wooden spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty approximately 1 cm thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to ensure even cooking.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and swirl to coat the surface.

Step 4

Place the patties onto the hot skillet or grill pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side or until nicely browned. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F).

Step 5

In the final minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt slightly.

Step 6

Lightly toast the burger buns in the same skillet or on a separate griddle for about 1 minute until golden and warm.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers: Spread 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun and 1 teaspoon of ketchup on the top half. Place a lettuce leaf on each bottom bun, followed by a patty with melted cheese, a tomato slice, 2 pickle slices, and the top bun.

Step 8

Serve the Krabby Patties immediately with a side of fries or chips, and enjoy your taste of the Bikini Bottom classic!
