Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried seaweed (wakame)
  • 150 grams beef (flank steak or brisket)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 units garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 6 cups water
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Soak the dried seaweed in a bowl of cold water for 10 minutes or until softened. Drain and rinse thoroughly, then chop into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.

Step 2

Cut the beef into thin strips, about 1-2 inches long.

Step 3

In a large soup pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the beef strips to the pot and cook while stirring until browned, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add the soaked and chopped seaweed to the pot. Stir well to combine with the beef and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Pour in the water and bring the soup to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 20 minutes.

Step 7

Season the soup with soy sauce, salt, and ground black pepper to taste. Stir well and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Step 8

Serve the seaweed soup hot, accompanied by rice or other side dishes.
