Ingredients

  • 250 grams Korean fish cakes (eomuk)
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 small Carrot
  • 2 stalks Green onion
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil

Directions

Step 1

Slice the fish cakes into small strips or bite-sized pieces.

Step 2

Peel and thinly slice the onion. Peel the carrot and julienne it into thin matchstick-like strips. Chop the green onions into 1-inch segments.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, and minced garlic to create the sauce.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium heat and add the cooking oil.

Step 5

Add the sliced onion and carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.

Step 6

Add the fish cake pieces to the skillet and continue stir-frying for another 2 minutes.

Step 7

Pour the sauce over the fish cakes and vegetables. Stir well to evenly coat all the ingredients. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is absorbed and thickens slightly.

Step 8

Turn off the heat and sprinkle the sesame seeds over the dish. Add the chopped green onions and give it a final toss.

Step 9

Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm or at room temperature as a side dish to rice or other Korean dishes.
