Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup fruit preserves (e.g., apricot, raspberry, or prune)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.

Step 4

Stir in the sour cream, blending until smooth.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 7

Using a tablespoon or a small cookie scoop, portion out the dough and roll it into small balls. Place the balls approximately 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.

Step 8

Using your thumb or the back of a spoon, gently press an indentation into the center of each ball of dough.

Step 9

Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of fruit preserves.

Step 10

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Step 11

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 12

If desired, dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar before serving.
