Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef
  • 2 packets Taco Seasoning Mix
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 heads Iceberg Lettuce
  • 6 large Roma Tomatoes
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 bunch Green Onions
  • 1 cup Black Olives, sliced
  • 10 oz Doritos (nacho cheese flavor)
  • 1.5 cups Thousand Island Dressing
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 2 teaspoons Hot Sauce (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it into crumbles with a spoon or spatula as it cooks.

Step 2

Drain any excess fat from the skillet, then return the beef to the skillet.

Step 3

Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes or until the liquid is mostly absorbed. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 4

While the beef cools, prepare the vegetables. Chop the iceberg lettuce into bite-sized pieces, dice the Roma tomatoes, thinly slice the green onions, and shred the cheddar cheese if not already shredded.

Step 5

In a large serving bowl, layer the lettuce, seasoned ground beef, tomatoes, cheese, green onions, and black olives.

Step 6

Break the Doritos into smaller pieces and add them to the salad just before serving to retain their crunch.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the Thousand Island dressing, sour cream, and hot sauce (if using) to make the dressing.

Step 8

Pour the dressing over the salad or serve it on the side for guests to add to their own plates.

Step 9

Toss the salad just before serving to evenly distribute the dressing. Serve immediately and enjoy!
