Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 0.33 cups granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, salt, and 2 cups of the flour.

In a saucepan, heat the milk until warm but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the melted butter. Let cool slightly.
