Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 cups Whole milk
  • 0.25 cups Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 units Large eggs
  • 0.75 cups Brown sugar (packed, for filling)
  • 1.5 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.75 cups Raisins
  • 0.25 cups Unsalted butter (softened, for filling)
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (melted, for topping)
  • 1 cups Brown sugar (for topping)
  • 0.25 cups Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cups Chopped pecans (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.

Step 2

Heat the milk until warm (about 100-110°F) and mix it into the dry ingredients along with the melted butter and eggs. Stir until a sticky dough forms.

Step 3

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use the dough hook attachment on a stand mixer for 5-7 minutes.

Step 4

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 5

Prepare the topping by combining melted butter, brown sugar, and heavy cream. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and sprinkle with chopped pecans, if using. Set aside.

Step 6

Roll the risen dough into a 12x18-inch rectangle on a floured surface.

Step 7

Spread softened butter over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border along the edges. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins evenly over the butter.

Step 8

Starting at one long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.

Step 9

Slice the log into 12 even pieces and arrange the pieces cut-side-up in the prepared baking dish, spacing them evenly.

Step 10

Cover the dish with a clean towel and let the buns rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Step 11

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 12

Bake the sticky buns for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked in the center.

Step 13

Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Carefully invert the pan onto a large serving plate or tray so the caramelized topping coats the buns.

Step 14

Serve warm and enjoy!
