Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 large Egg white
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.25 cup Onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Dried basil
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 0 n/a Olive oil cooking spray
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil sprayed with olive oil cooking spray.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, Parmesan cheese, egg white, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, diced onion, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and ground black pepper.

Step 3

Use your hands or a wooden spoon to gently mix all the ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.

Step 4

Scoop out small portions (about 1½ tablespoons each) of the mixture and roll them into evenly sized meatballs. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a bit of space between each one.

Step 5

Lightly spray the tops of the meatballs with olive oil cooking spray to help them brown in the oven.

Step 6

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).

Step 7

If desired, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat and serve the meatballs with sauce over pasta, in a sub sandwich, or enjoy them on their own as a low-fat snack or appetizer.
