Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Ground pork
  • 0.75 cup Breadcrumbs (unseasoned)
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1.5 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 24 ounces Spaghetti sauce

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with nonstick spray.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to absorb the milk and become soft.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and egg.

Step 4

Mix the ingredients gently with your hands or a wooden spoon until just combined. Do not overmix, as this can result in tough meatballs.

Step 5

Roll the mixture into meatballs about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. You should end up with approximately 16-18 meatballs.

Step 6

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. In batches, brown the meatballs on all sides until they develop a golden crust, about 2-3 minutes per side. Do not cook them through; this step is to add flavor.

Step 7

Transfer the browned meatballs to the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to finish cooking.

Step 8

While the meatballs are baking, warm the spaghetti sauce in a large saucepan over low heat.

Step 9

Once the meatballs are cooked through in the oven, carefully transfer them to the saucepan with the spaghetti sauce. Simmer gently for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 10

Serve the meatballs with your favorite pasta, in a sub roll, or on their own with a sprinkle of fresh Parmesan cheese and parsley. Enjoy!
