Ingredients

  • 340 grams Fresh cranberries
  • 200 grams Granulated sugar
  • 120 milliliters Water
  • 60 milliliters Orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch Salt

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the cranberries thoroughly and discard any that are soft or damaged.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and orange juice. Stir to dissolve the sugar.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 4

Add the cranberries to the saucepan. Lower the heat to medium-low and let them simmer, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Cook for about 10 minutes until the cranberries start to pop and the sauce thickens.

Step 6

Add the orange zest, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to the mixture. Stir well to combine.

Step 7

Continue simmering for an additional 3–5 minutes until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.

Step 8

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the cranberry sauce to cool. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.

Step 9

Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving dish or an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to enhance the flavors.

Step 10

Serve chilled or at room temperature with your favorite holiday dishes.
