Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 minced Garlic cloves
  • 1 cup Cooked rice
  • 1 15-ounce can Tomato sauce
  • 1 14.5-ounce can Diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 medium head, chopped Cabbage
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with olive oil.

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.

Step 3

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Remove the skillet from heat.

Step 5

Spread half of the chopped cabbage evenly on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 6

Spoon half of the beef and rice mixture over the cabbage, spreading it out evenly.

Step 7

Repeat with the remaining cabbage and beef mixture to create a second layer.

Step 8

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 9

Remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 10

Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
