Ingredients

  • 4 pieces French bread rolls
  • 1 pound Thinly sliced roast beef
  • 8 slices Provolone cheese
  • 4 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer. Allow to cook for 10 minutes, then lower the heat and keep warm.

Step 3

Split the French bread rolls in half lengthwise. Place them cut-side up on a baking sheet.

Step 4

Place 2 slices of provolone cheese on the bottom half of each roll.

Step 5

Warm the sliced roast beef in the prepared au jus mixture for 1-2 minutes, using tongs to avoid overcooking.

Step 6

Using the tongs, pile the warmed roast beef onto the bottom half of each roll, layering it over the cheese. Reserve the au jus for dipping.

Step 7

Place the top halves of the rolls onto the assembled sandwiches, then bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is lightly crisped.

Step 8

Remove the sandwiches from the oven. Serve immediately with small bowls of the warm au jus on the side for dipping.
